The first of 20 bat boxes went up this week the plan is to put around 100 boxes up over the whole forest in the coming few years We have been actively managing the forest for the benefit of bats for a number of years this includes the making of ponds and damp areas creating standing deadwood alongside a number of different bat boxes that support the bats that have been recorded here
These are common pipistrelle Pipistrellus pipistrellus, soprano
pipistrelle P. pygmaeus, Nathusius’ pipistrelle pipistrellus nathusii, brown long-earedbat Plecotus auritus, serotine Eptesicus serotinus, whiskererd bat Myotis mystacinus,
Natterer’s bat M. nattereri and noctule Nyctalus noctula.
